Shinhan Investment Corp is expanding cooperation with financial institutions and capital-market related bodies in Japan, Hong Kong and Vietnam, speeding up the building of a global investment platform.
Shinhan Investment Corp said on Tuesday that CEO Lee Sun-hoon (이선훈) visited the three countries including Japan, Hong Kong and Vietnam and discussed business cooperation on foreigner integrated accounts, wealth management (WM) and investment banking (IB) with major financial institutions and capital-market related bodies.
In Tokyo, it met executives of Mizuho Securities and Rakuten Securities and discussed ways to expand cooperation by leveraging the two companies' business foundations and networks.
With Mizuho Securities in particular, it will pursue cooperation using Shinhan Investment Corp's research capabilities. It agreed to pursue a plan to use the Mizuho Investment Conference, Japan's largest global institutional investor conference, to introduce leading companies from South Korea and Japan to institutional investors in both countries and globally and provide investment opportunities.
In Hong Kong, it signed a memorandum of understanding with CICC International to expand cooperation on foreigner integrated account services and its WM business.
The two companies plan to use their financial networks and service capabilities to improve foreign investors' access to South Korea's capital market and expand cooperation in wealth management.
In Hanoi, it discussed ways to expand cooperation between the two countries' capital markets and investor exchanges with officials from the State Securities Commission (SSC) and the Vietnam Exchange (VNX).
Lee met SSC Vice Chairman Le Thi Viet Nga (레 티 비엣 응아) and VNX Vice President Dang Thai An Trang (당 타이 안 짱) and reviewed cooperation measures to strengthen market links and expand mutual investment opportunities including IB.
Shinhan Investment Corp has also signed an MOU for cooperation on foreigner integrated account services with the U.S. regular exchange 24X and Hong Kong's Guangfa Securities.
Lee said, "This visit to three countries was to expand global business," adding, "We will strengthen competitiveness as a two-way global financial platform that connects overseas investors to investment in South Korea."
