NH Investment Securities posted its highest-ever quarterly results in the second quarter, helped by a buoyant domestic stock market and growth across all business divisions.

NH Investment Securities said on Wednesday second-quarter operating profit rose 111.6 percent from a year earlier to 681.2 billion won. Net profit increased 90.5 percent to 489.4 billion won.

Both operating profit and net profit topped the previous records set in the first quarter. NH Investment Securities posted first-quarter operating profit of 636.7 billion won and net profit of 475.7 billion won.

First-half operating profit totalled 1.32 trillion won and net profit was 965.1 billion won, the highest for any first half. First-half operating profit equals 92.7 percent of last year's full-year operating profit, while net profit equals 93.5 percent of the full-year net profit.

Brokerage income expanded as domestic share trading rose, while financial product sales, investment banking (IB) and operations also grew evenly.

Second-quarter net brokerage commission income was tallied at 445.6 billion won. Of that, domestic equity commission income came to 390.9 billion won, and market share rose 0.7 percentage points from the previous quarter.

Fee income from financial product sales was 76.8 billion won, and fee income from the IB division was 108.3 billion won. Operating investment gains and related net interest income also came to 407.3 billion won.

The wealth management (WM) division also expanded in scale. Total client assets stood at 612 trillion won at the end of the second quarter. The number of clients with at least 100 million won in assets rose by 97,000 from the previous quarter to 455,000, and clients with at least 1 billion won increased by 9,000 to 33,000.

Chief Executive Jaeuk Shin (신재욱) said, "In addition to brokerage, fee income from financial product sales increased by more than two times from last year, and the traditional IB division also proved its competitiveness."
