Korea mobile carriers\' Q2 operating profit seen near 1.5 trillion won, AI data centers and B2B in focus

South Korea\'s three mobile carriers are expected to post mixed second-quarter results, with combined operating profit forecast at about 1.46 trillion won. SK Telecom and LG Uplus are seen extending earnings gains on wireless subscriber growth and AI infrastructure, including AI data centers. KT to embed AI across workplace, expand AID-X companywide

KT is expanding a companywide work innovation system that applies AI across its operations, extending its AID-X framework beyond software development to planning, UI and UX design, quality assurance and operations. At an AID-X demo day in Seongnam, it shared implementation steps, results and trial-and-error. KT also unveiled examples including humanoid physical AI, AI-based service testing across devices and a natural-language AI case that optimised shuttle bus routes.

KakaoBank union to hold full-day strike on July 31

KakaoBank\'s labour union will stage a full-day strike on July 31 after wage negotiations broke down. Seo Seung-wook (서승욱), head of the Kakao branch of the Korean Federation of Chemical, Textile, Food Industries Trade Union under the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, made the announcement at a picket protest on July 21 in Pangyo, Seongnam, Gyeonggi province. He said the company did not actively engage in talks and differences remained. The Gyeonggi Labour Relations Commission decided to suspend mediation.
