Asia\'s rise clear amid global AI spread - Microsoft report
Microsoft\'s think tank, the AI Economy Institute, released an AI diffusion report analysing changes centred on the digital divide and software development. It said the share of the global working-age population using generative AI rose to 17.8 percent in the first quarter of 2026 from 16.3 percent. Countries above 30 percent increased to 26 from 18, while South Korea posted the steepest rise. The report said usage gaps between the Global North and Global South widened.

LG Electronics Q1 operating profit 1.67 trillion won, up 32.9 percent year on year
LG Electronics said on Tuesday its first-quarter operating profit rose 32.9 percent from a year earlier to 1.67 trillion won, while revenue increased 4.3 percent to a record 23.73 trillion won for a first quarter. Revenue slipped 0.5 percent from the previous quarter, but operating profit returned to positive territory from a 109.0 billion won loss. Net profit rose 14.8 percent to 1.01 trillion won.
