LG Electronics posts Q2 operating profit of 1.58 trillion won, up 147 percent year on year

LG Electronics posted its highest-ever second-quarter sales and operating profit, reporting revenue of 23.83 trillion won and operating profit of 1.58 trillion won. Sales rose 14.9 percent and operating profit jumped 147 percent from a year earlier. Revenue edged up from the previous quarter, while operating profit fell. Warning signs as game industry growth slows, calls for tax credits for production costs

As growth and exports in South Korea\'s game industry slow, participants at a policy forum called for expanded support such as tax credits for game production costs. Korea Creative Content Agency executive Song Jin said games account for about 15 percent of content industry sales and 60.4 percent of exports, but get 6.9 percent of the budget. He projected 2030 targets would be missed without additional intervention. Speakers also urged tax and financing measures and listing incentives.

KT bets on AX with 18 trillion won investment over three years to grow AIDC and token factory

KT set out a new vision to move beyond its role as a key national telecommunications operator and become an \"AI transition (AX) platform company.\" It plans to expand AI data centres and pursue new businesses such as a token factory and stablecoins. KT will invest about 12 trillion won over three years in information security, IT and networks, and about 5 trillion won to add 1GW of AIDC capacity. It will also invest 1 trillion won to expand undersea cable capacity.
