LG Electronics is stepping up its push into the Asia-Pacific market by highlighting a subscription business that combines products and care services. LG Electronics said on April 9 it will hold "LG InnoFest 2026 APAC" in Busan for four days from April 7, inviting major distribution partners and media from about 20 countries in the region. It is the third and final event this year, following the Middle East and Africa in February and Central and South America in March, and it is the biggest of the three.

The Asia-Pacific region is a key Global South market with a population of about 4.4 billion, and Asia has conditions favorable for expanding the subscription business due to economic growth and a high rate of urbanization, the company said.

At the event, LG Electronics unveiled a wide range of clothing care appliances, including new WashTower models, heat pump dryers and WashCombo. It added a 25-inch option to the existing 24-inch and 27-inch WashTower lineup, and strengthened features by increasing washing and drying capacity and applying an LCD. Global cumulative sales have surpassed 3.2 million units. Refrigerators included locally tailored products such as an ice-and-water purifier refrigerator that provides 4 types of ice and a convertible refrigerator that switches between refrigeration and freezing modes.

The subscription business currently operates in 5 Asian countries including Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore and Vietnam. Subscription revenue exceeded 1 trillion won in the year before last, and cumulative revenue through the third quarter of last year was close to 2 trillion won. UP appliances are a key business for CEO Jae-cheol Ryu (류재철).

Ryu built an UP appliance system that continuously upgrades functions after purchase during his tenure as head of the H&A Business Division. After launching in South Korea in 2022, the company expanded the service to Taiwan and Vietnam from January this year, and the cumulative number of upgrades has exceeded 20 million.

Jae-seung Kim (김재승), executive vice president and head of the Asia region, said, "The Asia-Pacific region is a key Global South market where demand for premium home appliances is rapidly growing." He added, "We will provide a differentiated experience to Asia-Pacific customers by putting innovative products and solutions at the forefront."
