Samsung Electronics sees NAND, foundry join AI-driven profit engines
Samsung Electronics is seeing a shift in profit drivers in its memory business as NAND flash and its contract chipmaking unit gain traction on AI demand, following record quarterly results led by HBM and DRAM. The company says it has completed mass-production preparations for high-performance Gen6 NAND storage and received positive early customer feedback. It also says talks with multiple large AI HPC customers on its 2-nanometre process are active, with expectations of visible results soon.

Fadu posts 7.7 billion won Q1 operating profit, returns to profit
Fadu, a fabless semiconductor company specialising in data centre chips, reported preliminary first-quarter revenue of 59.5 billion won and operating profit of 7.7 billion won, it said on April 27. Revenue rose 210 percent from a year earlier and the company swung to an operating profit from a loss. Net profit came to 10.2 billion won, also returning to profit. Fadu cited a higher share of controller sales and rising AI data centre demand.

ADTechnology to target edge and sovereign CPU design market
ADTechnology said it will shift from a traditional design house model based on customer drawings to proactively proposing AI server chip architectures. CEO Joon-kyu Park said the company will move from a passive approach to an active model of proposing needed architectures and co-developing them with clients. It aims to reach 1.5 trillion won in revenue by 2030 and plans to target demand for ARM-based CPUs for edge servers and sovereign environments.
