[Digital Today reporter Choo Hyun-woo] Dell Technologies, or Dell, on Feb. 12 officially launched a 2026 Area-51 gaming desktop equipped with AMD's next-generation desktop processor, the Ryzen 7 9850X3D. The new product adds an AMD lineup following last year's Intel model launch, widening choices for high-end gamers.

First introduced in 1998, Area-51 has held Alienware's top flagship position. It uses an 80-litre full-tower case and offers extensive expandability. It supports the Ryzen 7 9850X3D with second-generation 3D V-Cache technology and up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, and it accommodates PCIe Gen5 graphics and SSD storage.

The model stands out for what it calls the most powerful power design among Alienware products to date. It secures more than 200 watts of CPU power and up to 600 watts of graphics power headroom, delivering stability in high-spec AAA games as well as AI-based creative work.

Thermal management uses an innovative positive-pressure airflow design. All fans pull cool air inward, and heat is naturally expelled through a rear vent. It includes a 360 mm liquid cooler and a detachable integrated filter to minimise dust buildup.

It also focuses on user convenience. It includes a mechanism that can secure a GPU up to 450 mm long, and it can mount up to 6 drives including 3 M.2 SSD slots. Support for next-generation Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 also ensures uninterrupted connectivity.

Kim Kyung-jin (김경진), president and managing director of Dell Technologies Korea, said, "Alienware Area-51 is the culmination of performance that embodies the brand's prestige." He added, "It will be the best option for gamers who want extreme performance."
