Data centre semiconductor company Fadu took part in CFMS 2026 in Shenzhen, China, and unveiled its next-generation Gen6 controller and FlexSSD. Fadu said on Monday it stepped up sales through an exhibition booth and a keynote speech aimed at local potential customers such as major cloud service providers (CSP), module manufacturers and server companies.

Now in its 8th year, CFMS drew more than 1,500 companies under the theme "Transcending Cycles·Unleashing Value". Fadu views China and Asia as key strategic markets and used the event as a bridgehead to find partners and potential customers.

At the event, Fadu showcased its Gen5 and Gen6 controllers and its customised platform, FlexSSD. The Gen5 controller is being supplied to global CSP and OEM customers, with up to 14 GB/s sequential read speed, 3.4 million random reads per second and power consumption of under 7 watts.

The Gen6 controller has completed development and is set to begin deliveries in the second half of this year. It offers up to 28.5 GB/s sequential read speed and 6.9 million random reads per second, more than doubling performance from Gen5, while using under 8 watts of power, the company explained.

FlexSSD is a customised platform that designs enterprise SSDs to match customers' AI workloads. Unlike the original design manufacturer development approach, it can be supplied with firmware and hardware selected under the customer's own brand. Kang Lei (康雷), head of Fadu's China unit, said in a keynote speech that AI inference servers require more SSDs and higher performance and capacity than training servers, accelerating adoption of Gen5 and Gen6.

Fadu CEO Lee Hyun-nam (남이현) said, "Orders exceeded 150 billion won in the first quarter alone, delivering full-scale growth, and a return to profitability is also coming into view, making this year the first year in which sales and profit jump together."
