PIPC launches 2026 Personal Information Future Forum advisory body
South Korea’s Personal Information Protection Commission on March 19 held a launch ceremony and first plenary meeting of its 2026 Personal Information Future Forum at Yangjae L Tower in Seoul. The policy advisory body has 40 members from academia, industry and civic groups, co-chaired by PIPC Chairperson Song Kyung-hee and Seoul National University professor Lee Won-woo. The first meeting discussed a shift to a preventive personal data management system.

Talks gain momentum on platform industry promotion bill in South Korea
Calls emerged in South Korea\'s National Assembly to foster the platform industry as a strategic sector in the AI era, not mainly as a regulatory target, as a draft Platform Industry Promotion Act was unveiled. A parliamentary startup group held a forum to assess the need for the bill and gather industry views. Speakers cited declining investment and big tech dominance of internet traffic, debated self-regulation and user protection, and discussed overlap with existing laws.

Kakao holds \'Saijoeun AI Forum\' to lead debate on AI citizenship education for future generations
Kakao\'s corporate foundation Kakao Impact held the \'Saijoeun AI Forum\' and presented a new direction for citizenship education in the artificial intelligence era. The foundation said it hosted the forum at Kakao\'s AI Campus in Yongin to review the trajectory of its youth digital citizenship education program and discuss education paradigms for the AI era. Educators, experts and officials attended. Kakao Impact said it will upgrade this year\'s AI citizenship curriculum and release a video in March.
