Shinhan Bank is holding a dementia prevention lecture for seniors in the Incheon area with Gachon University Gil Medical Center and expanding senior support from financial education to health and daily life.
The bank said on Thursday it held the lecture for senior attendees on Sept. 10 at Shinhan Hakijae Incheon, ahead of Dementia Overcome Day on Sept. 21.
The lecture was designed to help seniors understand key symptoms of dementia and the importance of early detection, and learn health management methods they can practice in daily life.
Choi Su-jeong (최수정), a professor of family medicine at Gachon University Gil Medical Center, delivered the lecture. She introduced warning signs and the importance of early detection, dementia prevention through managing chronic diseases, and daily health management methods.
Shinhan Bank also operates services aimed at protecting seniors' financial lives. It provides AI-based detection of abnormal behavior at ATMs, checks its fraud detection system (FDS) using abnormal transaction records, and offers services including "Parents' Financial Anomaly Alerts," the "Memory Check Memory Test Event" and "Shinhan SOL Mate Dementia Relief Trust."
"Shinhan Hakijae" provides AI and digital training, financial education and education on preventing financial fraud for seniors and financially vulnerable groups.
Shinhan Bank plans to use the dementia prevention lecture as an opportunity to expand its programmes from finance-focused education to areas needed for daily life such as health.
A Shinhan Bank official said, "Through Shinhan Hakijae, we will expand not only financial education but also a range of content needed in daily life and financial consumer protection activities."
