DEEP begins first trial of Vanguard undersea habitat at 17 metres with four crew
U.S. undersea habitat developer DEEP has installed its test habitat Vanguard on the seabed at a depth of 17 metres in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and begun its first trial run. A four-member test crew will stay underwater for several days to check the living environment and operating systems. DEEP says the habitat is designed to enable research and work to continue directly underwater and is aimed at uses including science, monitoring and training.

Korean games secure seven China foreign game licenses in first half, boosting earnings hopes
More South Korean games won approvals from the Chinese government in the first half of this year, lifting expectations they will contribute to earnings. China granted foreign game licences to seven Korea-linked titles from January to June, according to the National Press and Publication Administration. Companies are increasingly working with local partners such as Tencent rather than running services directly. Some recently launched Korean games have posted early results in China, though sustained performance will depend on live operations.

Korean games hit console sales, as overseas acquisitions and in-house development pay off
Korean game companies are changing how they make and sell titles as PC and console releases deliver solid sales, moving away from mobile MMORPG and live-service domestic revenue models. Recent hits include Krafton’s Subnautica 2 and Pearl Abyss’ Crimson Desert, alongside Nexon-backed Arc Raiders. The industry is increasingly using overseas studio acquisitions, long development cycles on proprietary engines and Steam-led package sales, while facing rising AAA development costs and post-launch update demands.
