'Dave the Diver', developed by Nexon subsidiary Mintrocket, has surpassed 8 million copies in cumulative global sales.

Sensor Tower Video Game Insights said on Wednesday that 'Dave the Diver' recorded more than 8 million copies sold across Steam, PlayStation and Xbox platforms.

By platform, sales were tallied at 5.2 million copies on Steam, 2.6 million on PlayStation and 230,000 on Xbox. About 2 million of the PlayStation sales came through a subscription service.

The recent performance was influenced by its launch in the Chinese market on Feb. 6. By country on Steam, China ranked first with about 43 percent of players. The United States, Germany, Canada and South Korea followed.

In the Steam adventure genre, 'Dave the Diver' ranked fifth in unit sales and fourth in premium revenue over the past 12 months, but over the most recent month after its China launch it rose to third in both sales and revenue.

'Dave the Diver' (Chinese name: 潜水员戴夫) launched a mobile version in China alongside the PC version in a premium package format.

On Apple iOS in China, the mobile version ranked seventh in paid game downloads and third in revenue. It is the highest revenue performance among new paid games released this year. Factors cited include a user interface tailored to the mobile environment and optimised controls.

It also carried out local collaborative marketing at offline stores including KFC and Sushiro.
