Korea AI Cloud Industry Association launches CSP subcommittee to strengthen domestic CSP cooperation

The Korea AI Cloud Industry Association said on May 20 it has officially launched a Cloud Service Provider subcommittee to strengthen cooperation among domestic CSPs and jointly discuss issues facing the AI and cloud industry. The group also held its first subcommittee meeting on May 18, attended by six companies: KT Cloud, Naver Cloud, Kakao Enterprise, Gabia, NHN Cloud and Samsung SDS. Participants discussed policy and industry issues including AI infrastructure investment, GPU supply and rising data centre energy costs.

K battery makers see end of chasm tunnel, profitability within reach in Q2

South Korea\'s three major battery makers posted weak first-quarter results. LG Energy Solution and Samsung SDI swung to operating losses, and SK On is also expected to remain in the red. Brokerages see the first quarter as a cyclical trough and expect a shift to profitability from the second quarter as energy storage system sales ramp up and electric-vehicle demand recovers. NHN shifts game strategy to Japan, targets growth in cloud, payments and defense

NHN is adjusting its game business strategy to target Japan and laid out plans to secure new growth engines in cloud, payments and defense. CEO Jung Woo-jin said the company is preparing a strategy change and pursuing contracts with well-known IPs in Japan and projects under code names. NHN Cloud began operating water-cooled B200 GPUs at its Seoul Yangpyeong region and expects related revenue from the second quarter.
