The Korea AI Cloud Industry Association said on Tuesday it has officially launched a Cloud Service Provider (CSP) subcommittee to strengthen cooperation among domestic CSPs and jointly discuss issues facing the AI and cloud industry.
The association also held the first meeting of the CSP subcommittee on May 18 in its main conference room. Six domestic CSPs took part: KT Cloud, Naver Cloud, Kakao Enterprise, Gabia, NHN Cloud and Samsung SDS.
The subcommittee discussed policy and industry issues commonly facing domestic CSPs, including the growing influence of global CSPs, increased AI infrastructure investment, GPU supply and rising data centre energy costs.
The meeting shared the purpose of forming the subcommittee and its operating direction. Participants elected Kakao Enterprise director Ju-myeong Lee (이주명) as the inaugural chair.
The chair will support the subcommittee’s operations by organising key issues raised at future meetings of on-site executives and linking them to representative-level meetings and policy discussions. The association plans to run the CSP subcommittee through representative-level strategy meetings and working-level meetings centred on on-site executives. The representative-level meetings will discuss the strategic direction of the domestic AI and cloud industry and messages to the government, while the working-level meetings will focus on identifying on-the-ground difficulties and policy tasks, led by executives in external cooperation and sales.
KACI chairman Bong-gyun Kim (김봉균) said, “To secure industrial competitiveness in the AI era, stable and competitive cloud infrastructure is essential.” He added, “We will systematically discuss industry issues centred on the CSP subcommittee and strengthen policy communication and cooperation between the government and the industry.”
