Fuel cells gain traction as AI data centers face power crunch; investment seen jumping tenfold

Large U.S. data center operators are expanding the use of fuel cells to secure power needed for artificial intelligence infrastructure, seeking to bring supply forward as grid connections can take years. Energy research firm Rystad Energy expects fuel-cell investment for data centers to rise from $2.8 billion in 2025 to about $30 billion in 2030. Bloom Energy posted sharply higher quarterly revenue and swung to profit, and Oracle plans to procure up to 2.8 GW of Bloom’s systems.

Naver hit by investment burden, Kakao aided by cost stability as Q3 outlook diverges

Naver and Kakao are expected to post divergent third-quarter results. Naver is forecast to log double-digit revenue growth but a drop in operating profit due to heavier spending on AI infrastructure, commerce and marketing. Kakao is seen posting a slight revenue decline but a double-digit rise in operating profit on relatively stable costs. Analysts say investors will focus on whether each company can translate AI initiatives into concrete products, contracts and revenue.

Naver seeks entry into Mexico AI ecosystem, expands cooperation with government and companies

Naver met Mexico\'s government and local IT companies to explore business cooperation centred on AI, data centres and digital twins. The company said its CEO Choi Soo-yeon (최수연) and other executives visited Mexico on Sept. 24 to 25 as part of a presidential economic delegation. Choi met Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon and other officials to discuss public-sector AI transformation and collaboration on high-performance computing and AI clusters.
