Naver met Mexico's government and local IT companies in succession to explore potential business cooperation centred on AI, data centres and digital twins.

Naver said on Sept. 29 that CEO Choi Soo-yeon (최수연), Chief Financial Officer Kim Hee-cheol (김희철) and Chief Data Officer Kim Kwang-hyun (김광현) visited Mexico on Sept. 24 to 25 as part of a presidential economic delegation and held meetings with local government and business officials.

Choi met Mexican Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon and introduced Naver's capabilities in public AI transformation and its sovereign AI strategy, as well as an AI factory project it is pursuing with Nvidia and Brookfield. The two sides discussed possible cooperation to support AI transformation in Mexico's public sector and strengthen industrial competitiveness.

Mexico's government is also accelerating efforts to foster its domestic AI industry. According to Naver, Ebrard said Mexico is expanding exchanges with global AI companies such as Nvidia and mentioned the possibility of cooperation with Naver.

Choi also met Rosaura Ruiz Gutierrez, Mexico's minister for science, humanities, technology and innovation, to discuss cooperation related to a national high-performance computing and AI cluster construction project.

It is also pursuing cooperation with the state of Queretaro, where local data-centre infrastructure is concentrated. Naver is discussing specific implementation measures for a pilot project to build digital twins for two major cities in Queretaro.

It also broadened its engagement with private companies. Naver executives met officials from Mexican IT company Softtek to review industrial transformation using AI and the potential for local business cooperation.

Kim Kwang-hyun, the CDO, gave a presentation at the Korea-Mexico Business Forum held on Sept. 25 on AI transformation in Mexican industry. He stressed the need to build an AI ecosystem that reflects a country's language, data and industrial characteristics and presented ways to link South Korea's AI technology and experience to strengthening competitiveness in Mexico's manufacturing sector.

This is the first time Naver executives have met government and business officials in Mexico in person to explore business opportunities. Choi previously met executives from Brazilian data-centre companies Scala Data Centers and Tecto Data Centers and Chilean telecoms company Entel in August to discuss potential cooperation in Latin America.
