Naver said on Thursday that Chairman Lee Hae-jin (이해진) and Chief Executive Choi Soo-yeon (최수연) met Brookfield Corporation Chairman Bruce Flatt and Park Jun-woo, head of Brookfield Korea, at Naver 1784 in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, on Sept. 3 to discuss a 1-gigawatt AI factory construction project.
Brookfield is an alternative asset manager that manages more than $1 trillion in assets globally. It has decided to invest up to $9 billion in the construction of the first 200-megawatt phase of the 1-gigawatt AI factory being promoted by Naver and Nvidia.
Brookfield plans to cooperate with Naver in later construction stages as well, starting with first-phase financing.
Lee said it aims to push ahead with a global AI infrastructure business by combining Brookfield's infrastructure investment capabilities with Naver's AI technology.
Flatt said it would support the overall AI factory construction project, including not only capital investment but also equipment and infrastructure procurement and customer attraction.
