Baemin B Mart first-quarter orders up 37 percent year on year

Woowa Brothers, operator of Delivery Hero’s Baedal Minjok, said on Thursday that its Baemin B Mart instant-delivery grocery service posted record quarterly results in the first quarter. Orders rose 37 percent from a year earlier, while customer numbers and transaction value gained 22 percent and 36 percent, respectively. Cumulative ordering customers reached 8 million. The company said expanded product categories and growth in fresh-food sales supported the performance.

With delivery times shrinking to around an hour, firms with dense urban store networks are gaining an advantage by using existing outlets as logistics hubs. The market is projected to grow from about 1.2 trillion won last year to about 5.9 trillion won by 2030, the report said.
