Woowa Youth has named Kwon Oh-jung (권오중), former deputy mayor for political affairs of Sejong Special Self-Governing City, as its next chief executive of Woowa Youth, a subsidiary in charge of logistics services for Baedal Minjok, also known as Baemin.

Kim Yong-seok (김용석), head of Woowa Brothers' external communications centre, who has served concurrently as Woowa Youth CEO since August last year, will step down as CEO and keep only his role as head of Woowa Brothers' external communications centre.

Kwon, born in 1968, is an administrative expert who has worked at the presidential office, the prime minister's office and local governments.

He served as an administrator in the senior presidential secretary for civil affairs office at the presidential office from 2003 to 2008. He served as chief of staff at the Seoul Metropolitan Government and as senior secretary for political affairs from 2011 to 2014. From 2020 to 2021, he served as head of the civil affairs office at the prime minister's office, and from December 2021 he served as vice mayor for economic affairs of Sejong Special Self-Governing City.

Woowa Youth is a subsidiary in charge of Baemin's integrated logistics. In logistics, it operates central logistics bases and Baemin B-Mart-related picking and packing centre businesses. It also runs a rider business through Baemin Connect.

The company is expected to focus on policy responses through cooperation with the government and local authorities on issues including the working environment for riders under Kwon's leadership.
