Uber early investor says no need for Strategy to invest in bitcoin
Jason Calacanis, an early Uber investor, said Michael Saylor’s large-scale bitcoin accumulation could limit bitcoin’s further rise. He said Strategy’s accumulation method and financing structure have changed how the bitcoin market works. The remarks came as he pushed back against SkyBridge Capital founder Anthony Scaramucci’s optimism on bitcoin. Calacanis has previously criticised Strategy as a complex way to buy bitcoin. Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley disputed Calacanis’ view.

Bitcoin nears $70,000 as large-scale short liquidations flare up
Bitcoin has risen more than 9 percent over the past week and is nearing a return to the $70,000 level. It climbed as high as $69,749 intraday before trading around $69,100. Large-scale short liquidations boosted the move, with CoinGlass reporting $1.14 billion in shorts liquidated in an hour. Investors are also citing reduced expectations for rate hikes this year and a reversal in outflows from spot bitcoin ETFs.
