OpenAI tops Anthropic in paid AI spending across 47 U.S. states

OpenAI outpaced Anthropic in U.S. consumer spending on paid AI services in 47 of 50 states, based on an analysis of credit and debit card payments from June to August by YipitData. Anthropic led in California, Massachusetts and Montana, and Claude spending was also higher in Washington, D.C. The data exclude free users and may not fully capture corporate spending. a16z said the figures do not represent total revenue.

First South Korea-U.S. strategic investment is Texas power plant; nuclear and LNG projects also pushed

South Korea and the United States have selected three areas for their first strategic investment projects: AI power, nuclear power and LNG. The two governments announced plans for a Texas gas-fired combined-cycle power plant, a framework to build eight large nuclear reactors in the United States, and a review of an Alaska LNG project. They said related procedures were completed as follow-up steps to a July trade agreement and a November investment memorandum.
