Googlebook faces software shortfalls despite premium hardware
Google has launched Googlebook, a premium Android-based laptop lineup made with manufacturers including Acer, Dell, Lenovo, HP and Asus, but assessments say the operating system and apps are not finished enough. Reviews say the experience resembles a large smartphone more than a laptop despite high-end hardware. Criticisms include weaker usability than macOS or Windows 11, background apps closing unexpectedly, limited desktop-grade apps, unstable smartphone integration and AI features that produced errors.

Nvidia unveils DGX Spark 64GB to run 100 billion-parameter models locally
Nvidia on Monday unveiled a 64GB configuration of its personal AI supercomputer, Nvidia DGX Spark. The company said the 64GB system can run local agents on the device, enabling on-device processing without relying on the cloud. As workloads grow, two systems can be connected into a single cluster through Nvidia Sync Cluster Assistant without additional setup. It is scheduled to launch in October through major manufacturing partners.

Qualcomm is looking for ways to reduce cost pressure on Snapdragon PCs as memory prices rise, as agentic AI on PCs requires a certain amount of DRAM and storage. Nitin Kumar, Qualcomm vice president of product management, said the outlook for memory prices is hard to predict and the burden could last for several quarters or longer. Qualcomm plans to broaden DRAM capacity and supplier options and optimise software with Microsoft and PC makers.
