2026 state audit puts PHP security, LG Uplus hacking cover-up allegations and AI policy in spotlight

Baek Kyung-hoon says frontier AI project not ordered by president

Deputy Prime Minister and Science and ICT Minister Baek Kyung-hoon said a 4.7 trillion won frontier AI project is not being pushed on a presidential order. He told a National Assembly audit that discussions began as the need to secure frontier AI grew after the emergence of Anthropic\'s high-performance model \"Mythos\" in the United States. He said the project was first formally reported to the president at a national fiscal strategy meeting in July.

SKT to boost A.X K2 math reasoning with Seoul National University, KAIST

SK Telecom will work with domestic universities and research institutes to strengthen the mathematical reasoning ability of its proprietary AI foundation model, A.X K2, and take on difficult mathematics problems. The company will hold a technical exchange meeting at its Seoul headquarters with professors and researchers from Seoul National University and KAIST to discuss research and model upgrades. Researchers from Korea Institute for Advanced Study will also participate.
