Nexon to hold 1.8 billion won MapleStory global development contest
Nexon will hold a global development contest using its MapleStory intellectual property, offering about 1.8 billion won in total support. The MapleStory Global Development Contest is open to anyone aged 14 or older through the sandbox platform MapleStory World. Entries will be accepted from June 4 to Oct. 7. Nexon will provide training materials, a Q&A channel for experts and a networking community, and will introduce an MSW AI toolkit feature to support development.

KOSPI falls after two-session record run; profit-taking pushes index below 8,000 intraday
South Korea's benchmark KOSPI fell on May 28 after two straight sessions of record highs, sliding to the 8,180 level as profit-taking emerged led by Samsung Electronics. The index briefly dropped below 8,000 during the session. Retail investors were net buyers, while foreign and institutional investors sold. The KOSDAQ also fell. The won was slightly stronger against the dollar in Seoul trading.

PIPC fines Interior Ministry, Rural Development Administration over personal data leaks
South Korea's Personal Information Protection Commission decided on May 27 to impose fines and penalties on four public institutions and one contractor for violating the Personal Information Protection Act. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety was sanctioned over multiple leak incidents tied to Government24 services and delayed notification. The Rural Development Administration and affiliated bodies were penalised after a hacker stole about 575,000 records from a contractor’s NAS and posted them on the dark web.
