Coupang users down 1.1 million in January; Naver up 10 percent, closing gap
Coupang’s number of users fell by about 1.1 million in January from a month earlier, as withdrawals that began in December continued after a personal data leak. Its monthly active users slipped 3.2 percent to 33,180,863, versus a 0.3 percent decline in December. Naver Plus Store’s MAU rose to 7,090,662 from 6,443,758, up 10 percent and placing it in the top five among shopping mall applications.

High-precision map data export could cause up to 197 trillion won loss; fair competition must come first
An analysis raised the possibility that exporting high-precision map data overseas could cause up to 197.4 trillion won in cumulative costs from 2026 to 2035, with additional annual royalty outflows not included in that total. It said costs would accelerate after 2029 due to growing industry damage and overseas leakage. Scholars and industry officials said fair competition conditions between foreign and domestic firms, including domestic server installation, should be ensured before allowing any export.

Can the iPhone 17 Pro take better photos than a DSLR?
A comparison test found Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro camera can show performance similar to a professional DSLR in some scenes thanks to software processing. In shots against a Canon R6 II, the iPhone produced brighter, sharper tones using HDR and colour correction, while the DSLR delivered more realistic shadows and stronger colour and detail. The iPhone was faster for immediate output, but DSLR advantages remained in sensor size, lens choice and post-processing flexibility.
