Piolink's Seol Dong-gyu and CEO Jo Young-cheol win Seoul information security awards
Piolink said on Jan. 16 that CEO Jo Young-cheol and security services manager Seol Dong-gyu received commendations from the Seoul mayor for contributions in information security and personal data protection. Seol carried out digital forensics-based investigations and analysis when malware infections, web hacking and other incidents or suspected situations occurred at Seoul city and affiliated agencies. The company said Jo was recognized for his work as head of KISIA and for advancing network security technology.

Uproot Company completes PCT patent application for digital asset management technology
Uproot Company said on Jan. 16 it has completed an international patent application under the Patent Cooperation Treaty for its digital asset management technology. The company operates BitSaving, an AI-based digital asset installment investment solution. It was selected for the Korea Fintech Support Center’s global accelerating programme in 2024 and is stepping up global expansion centred on Vietnam. It exported BitSaving software to VSV Capital.

Tiger Research cuts bitcoin target to $185,500, sees upside still intact
Tiger Research set a first-quarter 2026 bitcoin target of $185,500, lowering its earlier projection but maintaining a medium- to long-term bullish view, citing about 100 percent upside from current prices. It said bitcoin has fallen 12 percent since October to around $96,000 and spot bitcoin ETFs saw $4.57 billion in outflows in November and December. The firm pointed to rate cuts, rising M2 and possible U.S. regulatory progress.
