NIA says AI emerging as core to national competitiveness and social development

South Korea's National Information Society Agency released a report on 12 AI and digital trends for 2026. Based on future outlook reports from major institutions and research bodies at home and abroad, it analysed economic, industrial and social prospects as well as policy directions and major global issues. It identified 10 core technologies and highlighted trends including intensified competition over AI infrastructure, greater emphasis on technological sovereignty, AI agents, physical AI, on-device personalisation, biotech applications, AI media, 6G-satellite convergence, AI security, quantum technology and sustainable energy infrastructure.
