OpenAI Deployment Company has agreed to acquire applied AI company Northslope, Axios reported on July 8.
Northslope is the second company OpenAI Deployment Company has acquired since launching in May, as it targets the enterprise agentic AI market.
The acquisition will expand OpenAI Deployment Company’s field-deployed engineer workforce by several hundred. It will build AI systems alongside customers inside their organisations.
Anthropic has also set up an AI services company to help mid-sized firms use Claude.
Axios said the next stage of AI competition could hinge not on releasing models but on the ability to get companies to actually use AI tools.
