MSIT to conduct nationwide survey of internet equipment power use in apartment complexes

South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT, the Korea Telecommunication Operators Association and the Korea Cable TV & Broadcasting Association will launch a nationwide survey into the use of shared electricity by internet equipment installed in apartment complexes. Internet service providers should in principle pay the common-area power bills, but some residents have borne the costs due to unclear responsibility. The ministry will set detailed plans including compensation and measures to prevent recurrence, with telecom and some cable operators participating.
