SK Telecom said on Monday that SK AX and Technomatrix have newly joined its consortium for the government's independent AI foundation model project.
SK AX is a specialist company in AI transformation in manufacturing, telecommunications, media, semiconductors, finance and the public sector. In the consortium, it will be responsible for identifying and validating business-to-business AI transformation cases and building systems to spread adoption across industries. Technomatrix, a specialist in optimising AI model operations, will support industrial deployment of the independent AI model and continuous performance improvements.
The SKT consortium operates a cooperation system across four tracks: models and infrastructure, advanced research, data and service expansion. Based on this, it built an independent foundation model, A.X K2, for the second-stage evaluation. A.X K2 features strengthened agentic capabilities to understand, plan and carry out complex tasks, along with greater openness and efficiency for industrial expansion.
SKT plans to expand the independent AI model to industrial transformation and areas including public and defence, manufacturing, games, mobility, search, security and bio. It will apply it to its services including A.Dot, A.Dot Biz and T Map, and also 추진 industrial demonstrations in manufacturing, including an AI agent at KG Steel's steel production site and improving quality in Konex's casting and processing processes.
42dot is responsible for expanding the model in mobility and on-device use, while Liner is responsible for building high-quality training data and applying it to search and knowledge services.
Kim Tae-yoon (김태윤), head of foundation models at SKT, said, "From developing an independent model to industrial AI transformation, we will bring together the consortium's capabilities to contribute to expanding the K-AI ecosystem."
