KT said on July 14 it was selected as the preferred negotiating partner for the "National Information Resources Service innovation information strategy plan (ISP) establishment project" ordered by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the National Information Society Agency (NIA).

The project sets standards for relocating public information systems operated at the National Information Resources Service headquarters in Daejeon and draws up a transfer plan. It focuses on setting the direction for innovation in the national information resources management system, including data centre operations and the use of private cloud services.

Through March 2027, KT will set relocation standards and a phased transfer roadmap for 693 information systems operated at the Daejeon headquarters, taking into account factors including the National Network Security Framework (N2SF) grade and system criticality.

It will review alternatives for operating public data centres and redefine the role of the National Information Resources Service as the use of private cloud services expands. It will comprehensively analyse economic feasibility, security and stability to propose suitable infrastructure environments for each system.

The project will also establish architecture for linkage with the national information and communications network, a disaster recovery (DR) system, and standards for next-generation AI infrastructure. KT plans to carry out the project in cooperation with specialised companies in information system relocation, data centres and security.

KT has carried out projects including the national information and communications network backbone Network 1 project and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's disaster recovery ISP establishment project. The company plans to use this project to strengthen its public AI infrastructure capabilities spanning networks, cloud, data centres and disaster recovery.

Kim Won-tae (김원태), executive managing director and head of the Public Finance Business Headquarters in KT's Enterprise Division, said, "This is a project to design a new operating system and direction for the nation's public AI infrastructure." He added, "We will contribute to establishing the National Information Resources Service information strategy plan and building the foundation for an AI government."
