Stripe co-founder sees explosive growth in stablecoin-based AI agent commerce

Stripe President and co-founder John Collison said AI agent commerce will grow explosively. The Block reported he said on a podcast that stablecoins and high-speed blockchains would be key infrastructure supporting that economy. Stripe is integrating with Coinbase’s Ethereum layer-2 network Base to let AI agents transact in USDC. Bloomberg reported Stripe is also considering acquiring PayPal. Risks remain in automated finance, The Block said.

Tether invests in Whop to expand stablecoin payments

Tether has made a strategic investment in global creator marketplace Whop, The Block reported on Feb. 25 local time. Whop, which processes $3 billion in annual payments, will introduce stablecoin payments through the partnership. Using Tether’s Wallet Development Kit, Whop will enable creators and users to pay with USDT and DUSAT. The companies expect the tie-up to help add DeFi functions, including lending and borrowing.
