Woowa Youths has provided safety training to support riders returning to work after experiencing accidents during deliveries. Woowa Youths, which is in charge of logistics services for Baedal Minjok (Baemin) and is led by CEO Ohjung Kwon (권오중), said on Tuesday it conducted safety capability training on July 21 at Baemin Academy Seoul for Baemin Connect riders who have experienced safety accidents.
The training was arranged as part of a safety agreement for delivery platform workers signed in May by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the National Police Agency and certified platform companies for small parcel delivery agency services. It set out a hands-on curriculum to help accident-experienced riders readjust to delivery sites and focused on preventing repeat accidents.
The curriculum was designed as a comprehensive program that includes prevention and response methods by accident type, such as traffic accidents and falls, training to recognize and judge risky situations, and support for psychological stability after accidents and a return to safe driving. A key feature was the inclusion of psychological recovery after accidents in the course.
The company will also run a program that pays a "no-accident incentive" starting in August for those who complete the training if they achieve 120 days without an accident. A Woowa Youths official said, "We prepared this training after judging that riders who have experienced accidents during deliveries need psychological readiness as well as safety capabilities to return safely," adding, "We will continue to expand practical support to prevent and reduce industrial accidents."
Woowa Youths plans to expand support for accident-experienced riders starting with this training and to widen training locations to regions outside Seoul.
