The Broadcasting Media Communication Deliberation Committee said on Tuesday it will conduct focused monitoring of brutal and hateful content, including violent videos targeting children and teenagers.
The monitoring follows the spread on social media and online individual broadcasts of videos that encourage fights or assaults like games and show victims' physical and mental suffering in detail.
The committee will also examine cases in which victims' identities are exposed, leading to secondary harm, or violent acts are abused as a money-making tool through stakes and paid transactions. It plans to swiftly request corrective measures such as deletion and access blocks for identified violent videos.
It will also ask major internet platform operators to cooperate by strengthening monitoring and taking self-regulatory measures. For cases in which suspected crimes are confirmed, it plans to request investigations by police and other investigative agencies.
The committee urged people to report brutal, hateful or violent content found online through its reporting page or by calling 1377.
