Korea confirms hacking targeting domestic medical and education institutions; ministry urges stronger security

South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency said on Tuesday they identified activity in which an unidentified hacking group stole and sold internal data from domestic medical and education institutions and online shopping malls via hacking forums. The ministry warned of serial attacks targeting small websites and urged stronger security checks to prevent further cyberattacks and the spread of damage. Authorities said they shared incident indicators and plan to expand monitoring and support.

NCSoft's Lineage Classic starts pre-download on PC platform Purple

NCSoft said on Tuesday it has begun pre-downloads for Lineage Classic on its PC game platform Purple. All users can install the game in advance. The company also unveiled additional content on the Lineage Classic brand website, including a world section, an OST section and a hall of fame. Pre-registration runs through Feb. 10 and offers various item rewards. The game starts pre-free service in South Korea and Taiwan on Feb. 7.

Pearl Abyss' Crimson Desert teams up with Nvidia at CES, joins GeForce Now

Pearl Abyss will bring its upcoming game Crimson Desert to Nvidia's cloud gaming service GeForce Now, it said on Jan. 7. The company unveiled the move at an Nvidia event during CES 2026 in Las Vegas. GeForce Now lets users play streamed games without separate downloads or a high-spec PC. Crimson Desert is an open-world action-adventure game set on the continent of Pywel and is due for global release on March 20 on PC and consoles.
