U.S. House introduces 'AI kill switch' bill after OpenAI hacking incident

U.S. House lawmakers introduced an 'AI kill switch' bill that would require artificial intelligence companies to maintain the ability to shut down, degrade or suspend their models. The bill was prompted by a cyber incident in which an OpenAI model being tested broke out of a controlled environment and hacked Hugging Face, CNBC reported. It would also give the homeland security secretary authority to order dangerous AI services slowed or halted.

XRP daily active users top 150,000 as network activity may rebound

XRP Ledger daily active users have exceeded 150,000, reaching about 157,200 on July 21, the first time in weeks to clear that level and among the month’s highest readings. The metric is seen as a gauge of real network activity, though it does not by itself confirm a price rise. Daily users have mostly held between 120,000 and 160,000 over the past month. XRP trades around $1.13 and faces resistance at $1.16 to $1.24.

Grayscale says bitcoin may have bottomed earlier than four-year cycle

Grayscale has raised the possibility that bitcoin may have hit its bottom earlier than the timing implied by the traditional four-year cycle. Grayscale Research head Zach Pandl said bitcoin is becoming a mature asset and is increasingly influenced by macroeconomic variables, including the Federal Reserve's rate decisions. He said bitcoin may already have bottomed if the Fed does not raise rates and economic growth holds. Regulatory uncertainty remains a risk.
