LG Uplus launches U+tv Mobile app for watching IPTV on phones

LG Uplus has launched a new mobile application that lets users access its IPTV service U+tv on phones. The U+tv Mobile app combines content discovery, information lookup, mobile viewing, TV-to-mobile continue watching and remote control functions. Users can check details such as cast, release year, cumulative audience, trailers, OST, ratings and reviews. The company plans to end its existing U+mobiletv service at the end of May.

KB Financial unveils humanoid robot 'physical AI care', expands senior care

KB Financial Group unveiled a senior care service using humanoid robots, detailing its strategy to respond to ageing. It said it will debut a senior-focused "physical AI care" service at AI EXPO KOREA 2026 in Seoul from May 6 to 8. Developed with generative AI firm GENON, the model combines conversation-based emotional care with physical actions such as medication delivery and rehabilitation support. KB Financial plans to test real-world applicability and pursue commercialization.

Korea content sales top 161 trillion won; generative AI adoption at 32.1 percent

South Korea's content industry extended growth in both sales and exports last year, supported by strong performance in music and films. Total sales rose 2.6 percent to 161.48 trillion won, led by music, knowledge information and comics. Exports increased 5.9 percent to $14.91 billion, driven by music, film and character businesses. In the fourth quarter, 32.1 percent of content companies used generative AI.
