Colombian president proposes Caribbean coast bitcoin mining hub powered by renewable energy

Colombian President Gustavo Petro said Colombia could develop its Caribbean coast into a bitcoin mining base by using surplus renewable energy to attract foreign investment and spur local economic development. He said cities including Barranquilla, Santa Marta and Riohacha could host mining facilities and suggested the Wayuu community could become a co-owner. Petro’s term ends in August and he has about 3 months left to drive the plan. He will not run in the next election.

K Bank launches 'My Kids' account and savings offering up to 8.5 percent annual rate

K Bank said on Wednesday it launched the 'My Kids' account and 'My Kids' savings product. The account is for children aged 0 to under 14 and can be opened remotely by a parent who is a legal representative, with family relations verified through scraping. Parents can monitor and manage the child’s account in real time and set transfer limits. The savings product offers terms of 1 to 5 years and rates up to 7.5 percent, with promotional events running until June 5.
