Jector, a stablecoin payment infrastructure company, said on Sept. 18 it has completed registration of a patent for onchain payment technology that connects various visual codes, including QR codes, with external blockchain wallets.
The company said it has secured intellectual property rights for payment technology to be used in real-world commerce, following its stablecoin operation technology.
The company said the newly registered patent is for a "wallet-based onchain payment method and system using visual codes" and focuses on turning digital asset transfers into a payment process usable in real-world commerce. Visual codes cover not only QR codes but also barcodes, Data Matrix and other camera-readable one-dimensional and two-dimensional codes.
When a visual code containing the recipient, amount and order information appears on a merchant POS, kiosk or online payment screen, users scan it with an external wallet to execute an onchain payment. A smart contract processes asset transfers only when it verifies consistency between the payment request and the actual transaction. It uses electronic signatures to detect forgery and tampering, and supports preventing reuse of expired payment requests through random values and validity periods.
Jector has also previously secured a patent that automates collateral-backed stablecoin issuance, collateral management and liquidity adjustment.
Jector also signed a business partnership to pilot a payment system with B-DAX and LK Ventures, the operator of the self-photo booth brand "Insaengnecut". At the Korea Blockchain Week (KBW) venue on Oct. 1, it will link the won stablecoin KRW1 issued by B-DAX to the Insaengnecut payment environment, and verify the full process with SSDA from payment request to approval, cancellation and refunds, and merchant settlement.
Jector CEO Yu-jin Lee (이유진) said, "With this patent, consumers can use digital assets as naturally as QR payments without being conscious of whether it is blockchain or not, and merchants can manage it in their existing payment environment." She said she expects cooperation with industry partners and merchants to jointly lead a proof project for introducing real payments.
