Line Games has secured more than 350,000 applications from players in 148 countries in the first global test of Quiet, a PC co-op comic horror game it is developing in-house.

Line Games said on Sept. 18 that more than 350,000 people applied to take part in the Quiet playtest on Steam that ran for about a month, and more than 270,000 users downloaded and played the game.

Related videos created voluntarily by users also continued during the test. About 1,200 Quiet-related videos were posted on major platforms such as YouTube and Twitch, and a survey of test participants received more than 820 user opinions.

Quiet is a co-op game starring a duck alien that makes an unplanned landing on Earth. Players each become a duck and explore a house with teammates, gathering materials needed to escape while avoiding being spotted by the main enemy, a grandmother.

The game combines comic presentation with horror elements. The duck characters' distinctive movement and players' mistakes create unexpected situations, and the grandmother's vigilance increases over time, raising the difficulty.

Each round is designed to be short, at about 10 to 15 minutes. It is designed so variables and unexpected situations repeatedly occur as multiple players plan and move together to escape. In so-called trolling situations that disrupt other players' play, comic interactions are also possible, such as pushing an opponent away with a duck kick.

Line Games sees this co-op structure as offering viewing appeal as well as gameplay. That is because a situation is hard to control based on the skill of a single user, and each round can create different situations depending on the choices of participants playing together.

Line Games has been seeking to expand the share of its packaged game business focused on PC and consoles from this year. Following its in-house title Ember and Blade, Quiet is also widening its in-house development lineup as it checks early reactions in the global market.

The company plans to refine content and systems and continue preparations for release based on user feedback secured through the test. It also plans to use the advantages of in-house development projects to speed up feedback reflection and decision-making.

Quiet is being developed with a target release in the first quarter of 2027.

A Line Games official said, "Quiet has drawn interest on X since shortly after its first reveal in April for its distinctive visuals and gameplay combining comic and horror," and added, "We will focus on closely analysing various user feedback on the game to raise its quality."
