Kim Jong-cheol inspects implementation after abolition of mobile handset subsidy law, calls for clearer guidance

Kim Jong-cheol (김종철), chairman of the Broadcast, Media and Communications Commission, visited a mobile phone sales agency in Seoul to check how rules are being applied after the abolition of the Mobile Device Distribution Improvement Act. He went through the full purchase and contract process, including handset selection, plan and subsidy guidance, add-on services and paperwork. He said more user-friendly explanations are needed and urged operators to prevent unfair discrimination.

Tether-backed Orbit expands cryptocurrency payments platform to Colombia

Orbit has launched a cryptocurrency payments platform in Colombia as it expands its business in Latin America. Cointelegraph reported that Colombia is Orbit's ninth market and a regional expansion base following Brazil, Argentina and Chile. The company said Latin American users are using digital assets for groceries, restaurants and other everyday spending. Chainalysis data showed the Colombian peso ranked second globally by the share of stablecoin purchases on centralised exchanges by currency.

Tezos releases testnet for quantum-resistant private payment prototype TzEL

Developers in the Tezos ecosystem have released a private blockchain payment prototype, TzEL, on a testnet to prepare for attacks using quantum computers. The system is designed to protect encrypted transaction data and payment metadata by applying post-quantum cryptography and zk-STARK proofs. TzEL focuses on countering “collect now, decrypt later” attacks. It uses Tezos’ data availability layer to handle large proof sizes.
