Gu Hyeok-chae (구혁채), first vice minister at the Ministry of Science and ICT, attends a ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute's Advanced Radiation Research Institute and commends the organisation for its work.
The institute has linked radiation technology to a range of industrial fields such as biotechnology and the environment, laying the groundwork for creating future new industries. Based on core technologies, it contributes to improving public health through steps including the 2015 KOSDAQ listing of its research institute company Kolmar BNH and research tracking fine dust inside the body using radiation.
About 200 key figures from industry, academia, research institutes and government in the radiation field attend the ceremony. Along with a vision declaration, staff who contribute to the institute's development receive awards, including ministerial commendations from the science ministry.
Gu says, "I thank all the researchers and employees who have worked for the institute's development over the past 20 years." He adds, "I hope it becomes a central force in securing national core technologies, driving regional industrial growth and, further, leading national competitiveness."
