Koh Young Technology has won additional orders for SOCAMM2 inspection equipment from a major South Korean memory company. Koh Young said on Tuesday it secured extra volumes after starting supplies of the SOCAMM2 inspection equipment to the memory company in June. The company said the scope of application for its 3D precision inspection technology is expanding in next-generation AI memory.

SOCAMM2 is a memory module used in servers and is applied to Nvidia’s next AI platform, Vera Rubin. It is being cited as a core memory for next-generation AI infrastructure due to its high bandwidth and power efficiency, the company said. As demand for high-performance computing rises in AI servers and data centres, next-generation technologies are increasingly needed to improve memory performance and power efficiency.

Demand for inspection equipment is also rising as the importance of inspecting high-spec memory and semiconductors grows, and moves to supply the equipment are expanding as well. Koh Young is receiving steady inquiries and orders for AI semiconductor-related inspection equipment, including SOCAMM2, the company said.

A Koh Young official said, "Customer inquiries and orders for inspection equipment related to the AI semiconductor industry, including SOCAMM2, are steadily increasing." The official said, "As AI industry growth rapidly boosts related demand, order volumes are growing to the point that we need to significantly expand production capacity and the supply chain, and this trend is also leading to growth in results."
