iPhone Ultra may face early supply shortage, raising possibility of U.S.-first launch
The iPhone Ultra, expected to be unveiled in September, may face limited initial supply that could lead Apple to launch it first in the United States, according to reports. NineToFiveMac said the company could prioritise U.S. allocations if early production volumes are constrained. Speculation about a Sept. 8 unveiling has also been questioned, with Sept. 9 seen as a more likely date. The report said any U.S.-only launch remains unconfirmed.

South Korea, three telecom carriers review illegal spam response, tighten blocking ahead of Chuseok
South Korea's government and telecom operators reviewed their response to illegal spam and agreed to strengthen blocking ahead of the September Chuseok holiday. The Korea Communications Commission and the Ministry of Science and ICT held the sixth plenary meeting of a public-private consultative body in Seoul on Aug. 14 to discuss progress on a comprehensive anti-spam plan and future measures. Officials urged operators to expand reporting disclosures, share spoofed numbers and improve AI-based filtering.

Tesla to cut output again at Shanghai factory in January 2027 amid weak China sales
Tesla plans to reduce vehicle production at its Shanghai plant for nearly a month in January 2027, extending output cuts that began this month into early next year, electric vehicle outlet CleanTechnica reported on Aug. 14. The reason is not yet clear, though the market is focusing on slower sales in China. Tesla’s China sales fell 9 percent in the first half from a year earlier.
