[DigitalToday reporter Jinju Hong] The minimum holding needed to rank in the top 1 percent of XRP holders has fallen to 43,995 XRP, blockchain media outlet Decrypt reported on Oct. 5 (local time).

As the XRP Ledger user base grows and XRP prices remain weak, entry thresholds for the top 10 percent, 4 percent, 2 percent and 1 percent tiers have broadly declined.

Based on the current XRP price of around $1.50, the assessed value of the top 1 percent threshold is about $67,753. The top 2 percent requires 21,500 XRP, the top 4 percent 10,010 XRP and the top 10 percent 2,091 XRP. In value terms, that is about $33,110, $15,415 and $3,221, respectively.

The key is that as the number of holders has increased, the amount of XRP needed to enter the same percentile has fallen. The outlet pointed out that investors can now reach the same percentile with fewer XRP than in the past. As XRP Ledger accounts increased, the distribution of holdings shifted, and the balance thresholds needed for fixed top-percentage tiers also moved lower.

The top 1 percent threshold has declined noticeably over about the past 2 years. In 2025, it took about 50,000 XRP to enter the top 1 percent, but by early 2026 it fell to about 46,521 XRP. It then dropped to about 45,000 XRP in July 2026 and fell below 44,000 XRP as of Oct. 2. A total of 81,993 accounts currently hold 43,995 XRP or more.

The change is clearer compared with January 2024. At the time, it took about 64,077 XRP to enter the top 1 percent. The current threshold is about 31 percent lower in less than 3 years. Over the same period, the number of accounts in the top 1 percent rose from about 50,370 to 81,993.

Other tiers showed the same pattern. A total of 327,970 accounts currently meet the top 4 percent threshold. The top 0.5 percent starts at 79,752 XRP, worth about $122,819 at current prices. There are 40,997 addresses above that threshold.

The amount needed rises sharply at higher tiers. The top 0.2 percent requires at least 156,490 XRP, valued at about $241,115. A total of 16,399 accounts fall into that tier. The top 0.1 percent requires at least 275,019 XRP, worth about $423,529. Only 8,200 accounts hold that amount or more.

The top tier, the top 0.01 percent, consists of 820 accounts. Each of those accounts holds at least 3,784,253 XRP. That is worth about $5.83 million at current prices. This tier includes institutional wallets, exchange custody accounts and long-term holders who maintained large balances through multiple market cycles.

The changes align with the expansion of the XRP Ledger account base. The number of XRP Ledger accounts has risen by about 63 percent since early 2024. As a result, the XRP balances needed to remain in top-percentage tiers have generally trended lower.
