Amboss unveils Lightning Network-based P2P platform RailsX

Amboss Technologies unveiled RailsX, a new peer-to-peer trading platform based on Bitcoin’s Lightning Network, at the PlanB Forum in El Salvador, The Block reported. RailsX is a decentralised solution that lets bitcoin and stablecoin holders trade while keeping custody of their assets. It combines Amboss’ liquidity marketplace Magma with Taproot Assets to support trustless decentralised trading. The company said the structure aligns with a draft U.S. Clarity Act.

Solana DeFi platform Step Finance suffers $29 million hack

Solana-based DeFi platform Step Finance said some treasury and fee wallets were taken by an external party, The Block reported on Jan. 31. Step Finance said on X that a security breach occurred several hours earlier and that an investigation is under way, with more information to follow. CertiK estimated about 261,854 SOL was unstaked and sent to an external address, worth about $29 million at current prices. STEP fell more than 60 percent over 24 hours to about $0.023.

SpaceX to launch 1 million solar-powered data centres into space

The Verge reported that the company submitted a plan to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission to deploy 1 million solar-powered data centres in low Earth orbit. SpaceX says the concept could cut processing costs and reduce environmental burdens. The plan faces technical and environmental challenges, and FCC approval is uncertain amid concerns about orbital debris and collision risks.
