Hancom launches companywide learning group 'AI-dea Crew'

Hancom is recruiting employees for a project-based learning group called 'AI-dea Crew' to support voluntary efforts to strengthen AI capabilities and to identify creative ideas. The program, part of the company’s AI internalisation strategy, will run for 3 months from March. Participants can join in teams of up to 3 or as a solo crew. Hancom will provide up to 300,000 won per person and offer additional support and awards.

Xiaomi pushes smartphone camera innovation with modular optical system

Xiaomi is turning its Modular Optical System, previously shown as a concept, into a product and signalling a shift in smartphone photography. A report said the system has entered mass-production stages. The attachable module uses LaserLink Communication to send optical data to a phone at up to 10 Gbps, enabling real-time handling of large RAW files. It features a 6-element aspherical lens group and f/1.4 aperture, with a plug-and-play magnetic attachment and a limited supporting role for AI.

Science vice minister Gu Hyuk-chae attends 2026 science elders' New Year gathering

Gu Hyuk-chae (구혁채), first vice minister at South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT, attended the 2026 New Year gathering of the Science Elders Association on Thursday at the Korea Science and Technology Center. He exchanged views with senior figures in the science and technology community on national development. About 90 attendees included former ministers and vice ministers from science and technology-related ministries. The event also featured an award ceremony, greetings, a cake-cutting, dinner and well-wishes.
