GPU available but no electricity: Calls to ease AI data centre rules

Speakers at a forum on Jan. 9 called for regulatory easing and changes to South Korea’s power supply system to accelerate the spread of AI data centres. They said electricity demand is concentrated in the Seoul area while power generation is concentrated outside it, creating imbalances and a shortage of transmission lines. Proposals included attracting near-term projects outside the capital region, allowing direct power purchase agreements, cutting transmission fees, and expanding policy support to bridge timing gaps between data centre construction and grid expansion.

XRP has remained among the top five cryptocurrencies by market value despite a prolonged legal dispute after the U.S. SEC sued Ripple in 2020. AI chatbot Grok set out a bullish 2036 scenario in which XRP rises from about $2.06 to $50, implying gains of more than 2,300 percent and lifting those investments to as much as $242,700.

NH NongHyup Bank holds completion ceremony for new employee onboarding training

NH NongHyup Bank's Cheongju training center held a completion ceremony for an onboarding programme for newly hired employees recruited in the second half of 2025. The curriculum included identity training based on the "Nongsim Cheonsim" campaign, basic banking duties such as deposits, loans and foreign exchange, and ethics, compliance and accident prevention. Graduates will be assigned to branches from Jan. 12. CEO Kang Tae-young delivered a special lecture during the programme.
