JPMorgan: Paying interest on stablecoins without financial regulation is risky

JPMorgan Chase supports blockchain technology but says stablecoins that pay interest could threaten the traditional financial system. At a fourth-quarter earnings presentation, CFO Jeremy Barnum warned that interest-bearing stablecoins could create an unregulated parallel banking system and said the bank supports the direction of U.S. congressional stablecoin legislation. JPMorgan said stablecoins acting like deposits without financial regulation could be risky, a view aligned with U.S. banking industry concerns.

Salesforce officially launches upgraded Slackbot to boost work automation

Salesforce has officially launched an upgraded version of its AI-based Slackbot, SiliconANGLE reported on Jan. 13. The update strengthens work automation, adding features such as corporate data analysis and summaries, integration with external applications and automated data imports. Users can upload documents and spreadsheets to extract information and create summaries. Slack CTO Parker Harris said the bot runs on Anthropic’s Claude models. Salesforce plans integration with Agentforce and highlighted added security guardrails.

Apple launches $12.99-a-month Creator Studio app bundle

Apple is launching a Creator Studio subscription service to support creative work, TechCrunch reported on Jan. 13. The bundle costs $12.99 a month or $129 a year and includes six major apps for video, music and graphic design, plus premium iWork content. It includes Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Pixelmator Pro for Mac and iPad, as well as Mac-only Motion, Compressor and MainStage. Students and educators pay $2.99 a month or $29.99 a year. New subscribers get a one-month free trial.
