SK Hynix to cancel 12.24 trillion won of treasury shares as annual operating profit tops 47 trillion won

SK Hynix will cancel treasury shares worth 12.24 trillion won, after reporting its highest-ever annual results. The company decided to cancel 15.3 million common shares on Feb. 9, equivalent to about 2.1 percent of total outstanding shares. In 2025, revenue rose 46.8 percent to 97.15 trillion won and operating profit jumped 101.2 percent to 47.21 trillion won. It said it is also reviewing measures such as a U.S. listing.

Financial union raises issues with ELS sanctions method, condemns FSS inspection practices

The Korean Financial Industry Union said regulators’ sanctions approach related to the Hong Kong H-Index ELS case and the Financial Supervisory Service’s inspection practices are causing structural harm to frontline financial workers. The union demanded a full review of standards used to calculate fines and immediate correction of allegations of human-rights violations raised during special inspections. It warned that an incorrect standard could set a negative precedent and cited burdens on jobs and business operations.
